Shining a Spotlight on Perfect Image’s Valued Female Employees

In the spirit of today being International Women’s Day, we thought it would be a great idea to introduce you to some of Perfect Image’s valued female employees.

This is why we’re taking International Women’s Day to focus on our female staff and find out what they are most proud of and what they enjoy about their job at Perfect Image.

Here’s what they had to say:

Laura Bowie

Laura Bowie – ERP Consultant

Why did you decide to work within IT?
When I went to Uni I did a Computing degree as it was the best way to get a job back in 2003. IT was starting to become big in businesses, so thought it was the best direction to go into to ensure I got a job once I had graduated.

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
You feel valued by the managers and directors. It is still a small enough company that you can get recognised for the work and effort you put in.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
I am an ERP Consultant and enjoy the diversity of work I do. I also enjoy the client side of being a consultant; it is very rewarding delivering a piece of work to companies that is going to help them. Also the rapport I have with the clients I work with on a regular basis.

What are you most proud of?
I am proud of my career, especially since becoming a Consultant, as this is the job I was meant to do and the last three years have just been fantastic. I have taken control of my future and my ambition is paying off within the area.

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
It is good for women as it helps to highlight issues that women encounter every day. It also helps others appreciate us for what we are capable of doing and what we have achieved.

Kate Thomson

Kate Thomson – Marketing Manager

Why did you decide to work within IT?
My focus was always on Marketing, but I kind of fell into the IT sector. I’ve remained in IT because it’s a constantly evolving sector – which means I’m constantly learning – and because I get to work with really talented teams that add value to our customers. Without happy customers, promoting a business’s services is hard work!

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
The opportunity to make an impact on the company’s bottom line and the support and trust of the management that enables my team to achieve this.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
I was brought in with the responsibility to build and manage a lead generation and marketing team. My favourite part of my role is my team bringing in new customers as we can really see the importance of our function within PI.

What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of my career and progression to date!

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
IWD helps to positively promote the capabilities and achievements of women around the world.

Glynis Elrington – Head of Account Management

Why did you decide to work within IT?
Because I loved coding when at school, I created a battleships and backgammon programme. However, it became very boring so I decided to work in the IT industry as not many women were doing that. I started at Unichem as their print and computer support person.

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
You never know what is going to happen, every day is quite different.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
I’m Head of Account Management and I enjoy working with clients.

What are you most proud of?
Raising over 200k for my own charity, selling my paintings and becoming the first female general manager for Sage.

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
Anything that raises the profile of women, either in business or anything else, is a fabulous thing.

Tracey Peggie

Tracey Peggie – Procurement & Accounts

Why did you decide to work within IT?
By accident; my background is procurement and social value delivery so my learning curve has been extremely steep. As it is an ever-evolving industry, I am still learning every day and that excites me!

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
The support from colleagues is a continuous motivator. The positive buzz, flowing creativity and constant drive for improvement for our clients is inspiring. Also, having senior managers and directors who are open to all suggestions and change is refreshing.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
My role incorporates the full journey of procurement and finance – identifying a need, finding the best solution with colleagues and sourcing the most appropriate partner provider to purchasing the final ‘product’, followed by the financial management of payments and reconciliations. It is a very busy role but I laugh as much as I moan!

What are you most proud of?
That I have brought up two wonderfully clever and strong children who are as passionate about life and giving back as I am. I am extremely proud that both signed up to the bone marrow register at 16 and could potentially save a life (as both their father and me have!).

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
Despite advances in recent times where ‘equality’ is championed and improving, there is still an echo of us not quite reaching our potential and some industries lagging behind. IWD reminds us that we can do what we set out to… in a positive message.

Jessica Cambrook

Jessica Cambrook – Digital Content Executive

Why did you decide to work within IT?
I’ve grown up using computers and seeing technology progress. I think it’s an exciting industry to be a part of and to write about. Everything changes at such a fast pace – nothing ever stays the same for long and you’ve got to stay on top of new advancements in IT.

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
Perfect Image as a company are really into charity work, staff development, and doing their bit for the environment, which ticks every box for what I hoped for from an employer.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
I love the wide variety of my job, like writing blogs or case studies and handling the company’s social media accounts. It’s never boring here as no two days are ever the same.

What are you most proud of?
Graduating with a first in English Literature and Creative Writing, and getting a writing job that I really wanted at a fantastic company.

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
I think it’s really important to highlight the success and importance of women. I like that at Perfect Image women are treated with respect and that there are quite a few female managers here. I hope that IWD continues to ensure more workplaces are like this.

Gail McCamley – Finance and Procurement Manager

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
The people! There’s a friendly atmosphere at Perfect Image and everyone’s so easy to work with. I like that we’re not a huge company because you aren’t just a number, you really feel appreciated individually and as part of your team.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
I work in Accounts and we’re quite a small, hardworking team but we all get on very well. I enjoy mixing with other teams and departments and providing the best service possible. It’s a good feeling to finish a busy day of work and know I did my job to the best of my ability.

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
It celebrates not just economic achievements but also cultural, social and political. It’s great to have a day that gets conversations started about gender equality.

Kay Lees & Gail McCamley

Kay Lees – HR Manager

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
The people, the culture, the freedom/autonomy in my role, and seeing people progress. Also seeing the growth of the business today from where it was when I started 14 years ago and being part of that journey.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
My role is so varied, it is never the same day to day and after nearly 20 years working in HR and management, I still learn something new. I get involved in every aspect of an employee’s journey at PI from recruitment, induction, people development, progression, policy, compliance, benefits and reporting. I love the interaction with all staff, being able to support and offer advice and being involved in change and improvements across the business.

What are you most proud of?
Cycling through Vietnam and Cambodia in February 2017 for women’s cancer (pictured above with Gail McCamley). I’m also looking forward to cycling around the Great Wall of China in May 2019 for Blind Veterans.

Why do you think International Women’s Day is good for women?
Especially as HR Manager, I’m dedicated to making sure fairness and equality is something we practice every day at Perfect Image. However, it’s a good opportunity to celebrate the success of all women in all workplaces and how far we’ve come.

Leah Wilson

Leah Wilson – Account Manager

Why did you decide to work within IT?
I am interested in technology and innovation so I knew I would enjoy working within this industry. As every business requires IT in different shapes and forms I feel this provides me with job security long term which is very important to me.

What is the best thing about working at Perfect Image?
The variety of work and working with different people across the business in infrastructure, business systems, business intelligence and managed services for instance. Everyone gets on really well internally which creates a lovely atmosphere in the office.

What is your role and what do you enjoy most about it?
I am an account manager of around 40 accounts ranging from small local businesses to global accounts. I enjoy visiting my clients to gain a greater insight into their businesses IT needs and working with the relevant teams internally at PI to create a fix to their issue(s). I enjoy building business relationships and helping businesses get the most of what is available to them.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of gaining a 1st Class Honours degree in Leadership and Management in 2016 whilst working full time, changing jobs and bringing up 2 children. It was hard work but the benefits have paid off. I was working in a job I didn’t enjoy and gaining this qualification helped me to transition into a new role at PI 2 years ago.
