QST 2017 in Newcastle – An Achievement in Analytics
In June 2017, Perfect Image played host to one of the more than 100 Qlik Sense Tour events taking place in over 40 countries promoting the Business Intelligence platform. As Qlik Elite Solution Providers, we jumped at the chance of being able to experience first-hand the enthusiasm our customers and potential Qlik users have for the product. During the day we had a presentation and demonstration from Perfect Image’s Chief Operations Officer, two customer keynotes, and a hands-on workshop delivered by one of our BI consultants.
See for yourself exactly what happened by watching our event video below, and reading the rundown of the day and the great atmosphere we all experienced during the event…
What was the purpose of the tour?
The Qlik Sense Tour 2017 is a worldwide showcase of intuitive Business Intelligence software. It is a huge event, some such as ours hosted by Qlik partners, with a focus on the future of data analytics platforms, of which Qlik are recognised as leaders. It is an opportunity for companies to find out how to empower their analysts and others who want to become proficient in data analytics with Qlik’s easy-to-use data visualisations.
Why did Perfect Image choose to host an event?
Perfect Image only work with best of breed technology, and we’re very proud of this. We enjoy having strong connections with not only our software partners but our customers, too. This event was the perfect opportunity for us as Elite Qlik partners to bring together both into one place; for potential Qlik converts, newly established customers and long-standing users to meet and share with each other where they are in their own data analytics discovery journey.
What happened on the day?
For Perfect Image’s own hosted event, we had more than 40 guests in attendance and the atmosphere was that of excitement for the day of talks and workshops ahead.
Starting the day off was Rob Hankin, Chief Operations Officer at Perfect Image, who gave a really informative talk about guided analytics being the future because they display data on dashboards that are flexible and also governed to avoid Excel Hell and take away the bottleneck of IT.

Ian Turner – 5iG Management
Our next speaker was Ian Turner, founder of consulting services company 5iG Management. He spoke of working with Perfect Image to implement Qlik, and how his company quickly adapted to moving from gut instinct to a data driven business. Ian compared his pastime of producing music to data analytics, explaining that during playback, the bass player listens to just the bass parts, the singer to the singing, the drummer to the drumming, all with blinkered view. He said it is the same with data, but their Business Intelligence platform has allowed them to see the whole picture.

Sam Tomlinson – Bromley Healthcare
Next up to the podium was our customer keynote from guest speaker Sam Tomlinson from Bromley Healthcare. In her talk, Sam took us through a history of Bromley Healthcare’s data analytics discovery – from the time when they had disparate systems of data, to choosing Perfect Image out of 16 potential software partners, to implementing Qlik. Sam said they wanted to become more transparent, open and self-serving which they achieved through on-site workshops with Perfect Image.

Hands on Workshop
After lunch, everyone was ready and raring to go again for a hands on Qlik workshop hosted by Perfect Image’s Business Intelligence Consultant, Chris McEleavey. This taught users the basics of creating their own dashboards and taking back control of their data.
Feedback from the event
Overall the feel of the day was that everything had run smoothly and to plan, and guests had gone away with real insight into Business Intelligence and data analytics.
The response from the event this year was really positive, with guests rating every aspect of the day and each talk on average between 8.8 and 9.7. This gave us an overall average score of 9.4! Further comments said that the best parts of the day were networking and meeting other users, the hands-on workshop, exposure of their own companies, and insight into using the right partner.
With such positive feedback, we’re already excited for next year’s event, and we’re sure our guests are too.
As you can see, the event turned out to be even more popular than we’d expected, with a completely full room of new and familiar faces.Interested in Business Intelligence & Analytics? Visit our dedicated microsite to learn more about how Perfect Image can improve your business: perfect.bi
