Peter Dinsdale is relatively new to Perfect Image, having joined the team in January this year. Peter is a professionally qualified Data Protection Officer and Information Governance Professional with 14 years’ experience in managing large-scale compliance programmes in complex, highly-regulated organisations. Peter is helping guide some of our clients (and ourselves!) through their GDPR journeys.

We sat down for a quick chat with Peter to find out a little bit more about him and his life in IT…

So, Peter, how did you get into the IT industry?

I fell into the industry by accident when I joined Newcastle University. As data protection is usually housed in one of three company divisions of Legal, Compliance or IT I ended up in Newcastle University’s IT department. This was the first time I was able to see my previous work/theory in local authorities join up with IT.

What is your favourite thing about working at Perfect Image?

I really love the fact that I can make a difference and the pace of change is incredible. Perfect Image enables its staff to influence decisions and to make changes fast.

What do you love about your colleagues?

Everyone seems to be genuinely engaged and wants to be successful. Put another way… I don’t have a problem getting out of bed every morning to come to work.

How do you think your colleagues would describe you?

No idea really, however, I would probably say quietly confident, approachable and with a laid-back style.

What do you think sets Perfect Image apart from other IT solutions providers?

The people want to do the right thing for customers and make a positive impact on their business, that’s what sets Perfect Image apart

What are your least favourite technology products, and why?

Amazon Echo – being a privacy expert, I’m concerned about the data it’s collecting e.g. targeting advertising based on what music has been requested by my family.

What piece of tech could you not live without?

My phone contains everything I need for social and work.

What do you think technology will look like in ten year’s time?

I would envisage it would look like the Matrix, everything connected with one hive mind.

What technology-related blogs, podcasts, twitter accounts or websites do you follow?

ICO naturally, and Panopticon – which is excellent for data protection and legal analysis.

What do you get up to when you’re not at work?

Swimming and I play bass in 3 bands. Shine, The False Poets, and the other doesn’t have a name yet.

Thanks to Peter for answering our questions, we hope you enjoyed getting to know him a little better!
