If you are thinking about applying for a job at Perfect Image and don't already live in Newcastle, you may want to know a bit more about this vibrant city. We have pointed out some of the well known places and highlights you may want to know on the city itself, transport, entertainment and nightlife, and some links to our favourite places.

The City
Newcastle is renowned for its excellent shopping and amazing nightlife. Its beautiful architecture includes the ancient city walls and castle and we have a stunning quayside with waterfront bars, restaurants and galleries.
If you don’t know them already our famous landmarks include the Tyne Bridge and the Angel of the North. If you are into art, The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Arts is a landmark industrial building, the biggest gallery of its kind in the world, presenting a dynamic, diverse and international programme of contemporary visual art.
Newcastle is home to an assortment of live music venues; The Sage Gateshead with its eccentric landmark roofing design stands out in the city’s skyline and is home to a variety of different music genres; acoustic, indie, jazz, electronic, dance and classical to name but a few. The Metro Radio Arena, an 11,000 seater venue, attracts all types of big well known recording artists such as Kylie, Take That and Girls Aloud and hosts a variety of additional events including premier league basketball and super league ice hockey.
If you like intimate venues you could try The Tyne Theatre or the Carling Academy. The latter is famed for a performance by the Beatles and is now a major gig venue for the UK touring circuit hosting an eclectic mix of music tastes.
Don’t forget we have beaches! Yes, you read it correctly, throughout the year there are many surfers that like to test the waters, in fact the British Surfing Championships have been held here. It’s not far, you can catch the bus or the Metro and after you’ve visited some of our highly rated beaches you can sample some of the best fish and chips you’ve ever tasted!
Shopping
If like some of us at Perfect Image you like the odd bit of shopping, Eldon Square Shopping Centre is a 5 minute walk from Perfect Image, in the heart of Newcastle and is home to a variety of leading high street stores and specialist shops.
If you are a self confessed shopaholic, then the MetroCentre is definitely for you, as Europe’s largest shopping centre you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice and no doubt come home with your purse feeling a lot lighter! The MetroCentre has over 300 shops including major department stores such as Debenhams, House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer. It also offers restaurants, cafes and leisure attractions, all with free parking and late night opening.
Nightlife
The city centre is home to a variety of nightclubs and bars. Popular areas include the Quayside, Jesmond and the Bigg Market. All are sociable, friendly, fashionable and hectic at times! For a night out with a difference there is always the Salsa Club or the Hyena Comedy Club.
It is possible to eat almost any style of food in Newcastle, from the award winning Blackfriars to the popular noodle bar Wagamamas.
There are numerous entertainment venues ranging from the Theatre Royal which hosts the Royal Shakespeare Company each year, to the newly refurbished Northern Stage and Live Theatre.
Transport
Newcastle is well served with local buses and the Metro. There are regular, direct trains from Newcastle Central Stations to Birmingham New Street, Bristol Parkway, Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central, Leeds, London Kings Cross, Manchester Piccadilly, Peterborough, Sheffield and York.
Newcastle Airport is a 30 minute drive from Perfect Image or the Metro will take you direct from our door to the airport terminal. Several low cost airlines operate from Newcastle including EasyJet and Flybe.
